This is going to surprise a lot of you but Brenden would use the word "mama" - just not in reference to me! Sean stays home with him on Tues and Thurs and they often call me at work to say hi. So for the longest time when Brenden saw the phone he'd point to it and say "mama" since Sean was always picking up the phone and saying "lets call mama." Well this week he finally finally started saying mama to me like crazy. We were out to eat and I went to the restroom and when I came back I could hear him yelling "mama" at me. It just melted my heart! I'm no longer just a voice on a phone to him!
He's also been much better about communication. He went thru a phase where he'd just scream and point to get whatever he wanted. This was VERY frustrating for us! We were able to spend the week working on his communications and now when he wants something he points to it and says "yah! yah! yah!" over and over. I'll have to try to get it on video. Its too cute.
I was also able to see why that last round of teething caused him SO much distress. It appears he's inherited mommy's bad teeth - my current smile is the result of several years of braces. I have very overcrowded teeth by nature. Well I thought it was just his incisor causing him pain but now that the tooth - or shall I say TEETH - have emerged its clear that both his incisor and cuspid are coming out of the same hole at the same time. Poor kid! No wonder it hurt so much! Guess I'd better start saving up for braces now!
He's really funny with his language. No matter what a word should start with, in his mind most of them start with the letter 'd.' Thank you is "dah doo" Yay is "Daaayyy" and our favorite is when he waves to people and tells them "Die!" (Bye). Every time we go to a store as people pass by he waves and says "die."
