Discovery Place

This weekend I took Brenden to Discovery Place. I had been there once a LONG time ago but really had no idea they had so much there for preschoolers. They have a room just for younger kids like Brenden. He had a great time and got to see his buddy Bryce from his old daycare too.

Upon entering the kids room there is a water table with all kinds of squirters and objects to squirt to make move. He could have stayed at this table all day.

His favorite activity by far was the giant "lite brite" toy. There were all of these colored cylinder pegs that you can put into the peg board and they light up. Brenden would put one in and then SCREAM out what color it was when it lit up and then DIE laughing. Soon he had about 6 other kids over at the activity just because they all saw how much fun he was having and wanted to join in.

It was 'all about trains' day there. I really expected more, but mostly you just got to do train themed activities. He got a cardboard conductor hat and got to put some cars and trains together at one of the activity tables.

Here is one of the activities they had in the section for older kids. These blocks were so cool. They are called citi blocs and they are so simple in design, but you can stack them up 5 feet tall and they were SO stable. I may go online and buy some of these for Brenden.

It was a great time. I really had no idea something like that would be so much fun for his age but I'd definitely LOVE to take him back there soon. It was totally worth the cost to see him have so much fun. He was on his best behavior (except for running away from me and trying to play in the one activity that was taped off because it was being repaired!) He really is so fascinated by educational activities so I think this was the perfect place for him. Next time I think we'll just stick to the young kids room and also I will pack my own lunch! $3.50 for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is robbery!

Playing around with the new Blog editor

I was just messing around with my blogger options and found that they have a new editor for posts so I thought I'd give it a try. I can't remember how I got to this particular option, but if you aren't fond of the current blog editor (and I know many of you aren't) then give this one a try. The picture uploader is a little nicer once you figure it out. When you select your pictures it opens a separate window and all the pictures you select are uploaded. Then from the second widow you can select one picture at a time to add to your blog. Its a little confusing at first as after each add you have to click the 'add image' icon again, but your uploaded images are saved there still so you can add another image without re-uploading it. It will make sense once you try it. The nice part is now you can choose what order your pictures are added to the blog instead of blogger putting them up in reverse order!

I got some pictures of the boys this week. Logan is on the move now so he's just as hard to photo as Brenen is.

Look at that happy boy. He looks so much better when his eyes aren't all red and watery!

My big boy Brenden. I love those big brown eyes. How can I say no to that face :) ?

And here is Logan making a silly face. He loves to play with spoons!

Its still not easy to move pictures around from within the blog editor, but having the option to choose the order and positioning in the first place really helps out. I plan to test this more!!

Weekend with the boys

Logan is officially super-mobile! He can crawl anywhere and everywhere and also is pulling himself up on his knees on objects. It won't be long before he's cruising. He definitely keeps me on my toes.

This weekend he discovered the ball pit and LOVES it!

Brenden didn't LOVE sharing his ball pit so he slid in on top of Logan and Logan decided to eat his hair instead. That boy loves hair!

Then we went to a local festival our city was having. It wasn't as kid-friendly as I thought it would be but we enjoyed ourselves. Brenden got to have his first funnel cake and inhaled it! No surprise there - who doesn't love funnel cake :)

There was a man making balloon animals so he made a turtle balloon for Brenden's wrist. Then he asked if our little girl would like a balloon too. I said "our BOY is fine thanks !" I guess with those curls and gender neutral clothing, he looks a little girly? I will be sure to make him look more masculine for our next outing!

I think Logan has allergies and this is why he got a bad sinus infection this past week. As soon as we went outside his poor little eyes turned red and watery. But does this REALLY look like a little girl? NO! :)

For Mother's day we all went out to dinner. Brenden decided to skip his nap earlier that day (not a very thoughtful Mother's day gift!) On the way home he fell asleep in the car and would NOT wake up. I took advantage of the cuddling - which he does so rarely these days. It was the best part of my day! (yes, he is sleeping with one eye open! I guess he wants to make sure Logan doesn't play with any of his toys)

Videos

I'll start with a few pictures from my day at the park with Brenden. I'll start by saying, for small town we have a pretty awesome park. They upgraded it a few years ago and put in a train, an outdoor amphitheatre and a splash pad. Sean kept Logan and gave me some special one on one time with Brenden. It was really fun for both of us.

Here is Brenden riding the train saying "toot! toot!" at the train whistle.

After the train we played on the slide. He had so much fun!

And then we finished the day with a cool blue slushie (only 50 cents.. how could I refuse?!)

MMMMmmmmmm!!!!

I have a few videos of the boys to post:

This is one of Brenden learning to count. I took this video a month ago and he counts SO much better now, but I think its cute that I have one of his first counting moments on video. He wanted to read this same book OVER and OVER so we started counting the bees on each page as a different way to enjoy the same book and then one day he just started counting them without us

This video is of Logan crawling this weekend. He's been taking a few crawls here and there, but just wasn't good at moving his hands and feet at the same time, but this weekend he finally figured it all out. He's not fast YET but he definitely can get to where he wants to go if he puts his mind to it. Brenden is not happy to have a mobile brother and he constantly reminds Logan "THAT'S MINE!" Joy!
